SUMMARY:Vortrag von Masahiro Maeda (Associate Professor): "Restoring rich interactions between people and the environment in cities: based on trends in 'machizukuri' and community revitalization in Japan"
DESCRIPTION:Masahiro MAEDA (Associate professor\, Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies\, Kyoto University) \nIn recent years\, Japanese cities have been experiencing a decline in neighborhood communities due to population decline and aging\, as well as excessive commercialization of housing due to urban redevelopment. As a result\, people have lost opportunities to actively engage with their housing and environments\, which should be the most familiar places for them\, and their interactions with the environment have become impoverished. On the other hand\, „machizukuri“ and community revitalization in the urban planning movement\, which originated in the 1970s\, has recently become more accessible to citizens through themes such as creating  third places\, utilizing vacant houses\, and disaster prevention and mitigation. Community-led regional revitalization efforts are being undertaken in various forms across the country. This presentation examines the current state and challenges of urban and regional revitalization\, as well as their social and cultural aspects\, considering trends especially in the Kansai district of Japan\, including Kyoto. \nDer Vortrag findet in Präsenz statt. Ort: Japan-Zentrum der LMU\, Seminargebäude am Englischen Garten\, Oettingenstr. 67\, 80538 München\, Raum U139. Eine vorherige Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
