SUMMARY:Vortrag: Witnessing the Tae-Han Empire: Texts and Photographs by Isabella Bird\, Burton Holmes\, and Jack London (Prof. Dr. em. Burglind Jungmann)
DESCRIPTION:The last decades of the Joseon dynasty (1392—1910) are remembered as a period of inner turbulences and the competition between foreign powers over their dominance of the Korean peninsula. Yet\, during the crucial period from the mid-1880s to the early 1900s\, Joseon was considered ready to independently enter the international arena. In the roughly twenty-five years between the first treaties with the USA and European countries and 1905\, when Japan took charge of Korea’s foreign affairs\, it sparked the interests of Western diplomats\, adventurers and travellers. The texts and images of three visitors during this period\, Isabella Bird\, Burton Holmes\, and Jack London\, present very different perspectives on Korea. Rather than seeking historical information\, this study attempts to highlight their different views within their personal backgrounds and intentions. In addition to their publications\, collections of unpublished photographs reveal a wider spectrum of experience and allow for a closer comparison between textual and visual representation. \nBurglind Jungmann studierte Ostasiatische Kunstgeschichte an der Seoul National University und der Universität Heidelberg\, wo sie 1988 promovierte und sich\, nach einem sechsjährigen Forschungsaufenthalt in Japan\, 1996 habilitierte. Sie unterrichtete als erste Professorin für koreanische Kunstgeschichte in den USA von 1999 bis 2017 an der University of California Los Angeles. Von 1999 bis 2003 war sie auch Adjunct Curator am Los Angeles Museum of Art. Zu ihren wichtigsten Veröffentlichungen zählen Painters as Envoys – Korean Inspiration in Eighteenth Century Japanese Nanga (Princeton University Press\, 2004) und Pathways to Korean Culture – Paintings of the Joseon Dynasty (Reaktion Books\, 2014). Als Gastkuratorin des Fowler Museum der UCLA organisierte sie die Ausstellung Life in Ceramics – Five Contemporary Korean Artists (2010-2011) und schrieb den Katalog. Außerdem edierte sie\, gemeinsam mit Adele Schlomps und Melanie Trede\, Shifting Paradigms in East Asian Visual Culture: A Festschrift for Lothar Ledderose (Reimer Verlag\, 2012) und mit JP Park und Juhyung Rhi A Companion of Korean Art (Wiley-Blackwell\, 2020). \nDer Vortrag findet in Präsenz statt. SUMMARY:Vortrag: 人工知能時代の言語能力評価を考える―運用能力の評価を中心に― (Prof. Dr. Jaeho Lee)
DESCRIPTION:李在鎬（りじぇほ） \nコロナショックにより、急激なデジタル化が進み、社会活動の多くが仮想空間上で展開されるようになりました。こうした変化は、日本語学習者における教育環境にも大きな変化をもたらしました。本講演では、こうした近年の ICT の進化および人工知能の躍進によって、語学の学習環境がどのように変化したのかについて考えます。そして、こうした変化を受け入れた上で、今後の教育活動を考える上で、私たち日本語教師は、どのような姿勢でのぞむべきかについても私の考えを述べたいと思います。特に、言語能力の評価に注目しながら、以下の ３ 点の話題を取り上げます。 \n1. ICT の進化がもたらす学習環境の変化とその影響\n2. 現代的な言語能力評価：四技能から七技能へ\n3. コンピュータを用いた言語運用能力の評価 \n========================================= \nConsidering the Evaluation of Language Proficiency in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Focusing on the Evaluation of Performance Proficiency \nJaeho Lee \nThe COVID-19 shock has brought about rapid digitization\, and many social activities now take place in virtual space. These changes have also brought about significant changes in the educational environment for learners of Japanese. In this lecture\, I will discuss how the language learning environment has changed in recent years due to the evolution of ICT and the breakthrough of artificial intelligence. I would also like to share my thoughts on how we\, Japanese language teachers\, should approach our future educational activities based on the acceptance of these changes. In particular\, I will focus on the following three topics\, paying attention to the evaluation of language proficiency. \n1. changes in the learning environment brought about by the evolution of ICT and their impact\n2. contemporary language proficiency assessment: from four skills to seven skills\n3. computer-based assessment of language competence \n========================================= \n李在鎬（りじぇほ、https://researchmap.jp/jhlee/）は、現在、早稲田大学大学院日本語教育研究科・教授およびミュンヘン大学日本センター・訪問研究者である。博士（人間環境学、京都大学）。これまでの職歴として、情報通信研究機構研究員、国際交流基金研究員、筑波大学人文系准教授を経て、現職。専門分野は、言語テスト、計量言語学、AIを使った自動採点、コーパス研究・テキストマイニング、認知言語学、ICTを利用した日本語教育。計量国語学会理事。産業日本語研究会運営委員、日本語教育学会代議員。主な著書としては『データ科学×日本語教育』（2021、編著、ひつじ書房）、『日本語学習者コーパスI-JAS入門 : 研究・教育にどう使うか』（2020、共著、くろしお出版）、『文章を科学する』（2017、編著、ひつじ書房』などがある。 \nJaeho Lee is currently a professor at the Graduate School of Japanese Language Education\, Waseda University\, and a visiting scholar at the Japan Center\, LMU Munich. Ph.D (Human Environment\, Kyoto University). His previous positions include researcher at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)\, researcher at the Japan Foundation\, and associate professor in the humanities at the University of Tsukuba. His areas of expertise include language testing\, quantitative linguistics\, AI-based automatic scoring\, corpus research and text mining\, cognitive linguistics\, and Japanese language education using ICT. He is a board member of the Japanese Association for Quantitative Linguistics. He is a member of the steering committee of the Society for the Study of Industrial Japanese and a delegate to the Society for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language.
