DESCRIPTION:Die wirtschaftlichen Implikationen des Sports rücken derzeit in Japan verstärkt in den Fokus der Aufmerksamkeit. Gleichzeitig wird betont\, dass die Sportindustrie eine bedeutende Rolle im Wirtschaftswachstum des Landes spielt. \nDie wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen des Sports sind weitreichend und vielschichtig. Um diese positiv zu beeinflussen\, ist es entscheidend\, die Struktur dieser Auswirkungen zu verstehen und darauf aufbauend gezielte Maßnahmen zu entwickeln. Die Organisation von Sportveranstaltungen wird beispielsweise als Instrument zur Anregung der Makroökonomie des Landes oder der gastgebenden Städte genutzt. Ein detailliertes Verständnis der wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen dieser Organisation kann dazu beitragen\, diese Effekte zu maximieren. \nAuf der anderen Seite wird erwartet\, dass das Wachstum des Sportkonsums den Markt erweitert und gleichzeitig die finanzielle Belastung im Zusammenhang mit der Reduzierung von Gesundheitskosten verringert. Die Förderung des Sportkonsums ist sowohl aus mikro- als auch aus makroökonomischer Perspektive von Bedeutung. Insbesondere wird erwartet\, dass die aktive Teilnahme am Sport in einer modernen Gesellschaft\, in der die körperliche Aktivität abnimmt\, in der Zukunft als Schlüsselelement („Killercontent“) fungieren wird. Daher wird die Aktivierung dieser Teilnahme von großer Bedeutung sein. \nTatsuo Sugimoto wird als Gastforscher bis Ende März 2024 an der LMU bleiben. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich Sportökonomie und Sportmarketing. Er ist seit 2011 Professor an der Fakultät für Wirtschaft an der Hosei Universität in Tokio\, Japan. \nDer Vortrag findet in Präsenz statt. DESCRIPTION:Wie es vielleicht schon manche gehört haben: am 15.12.23 veranstaltet die Fachschaft eine Weihnachts- + Karaoke Feier 🎄🎁. \nSingen werden wir alles worauf ihr Lust habt\, also nicht nur Weihnachtslieder oder so 🎤 Wir benutzen eine Art Singstar-Klon mit 4 Micros. Sollte es einen gewünschten Song im Programm nicht geben können wir aber natürlich auch einfach ein YouTube Video anmachen 📽️. \nEs wird warmen Glühwein\, Punsch\, Tee und verschiedenes Süßes zu kaufen geben. DESCRIPTION:Women in Politics and Academia\nPerspectives from Germany and Japan \nProf. Mari MIURA\, Ph.D.\, Sophia University\, Tokyo \nProf. Dr. Laura SEELKOPF\, LMU Munich \nOur panelists will explore the difficulties women face when pursuing political and academic careers in Germany and Japan. Both countries show improvements in the last decades but women still lag behind in numbers both on the political stage as well as in higher education and research. Furthermore\, women are still vastly underrepresented in leadership positions in both Germany and Japan. While Germany can boast about having had a female chancellor for four consecutive terms\, Japan has seen all 64 of its prime ministers being men. \nWhy is a higher female representation or parity in governments and universities desirable? How do gender stereotypes and patriarchal structures in society still limit women’s career ambitions What are the strategies to alleviate barriers and achieve higher female representation? Dezember 2023 von 17-19 Uhr präsentieren deutsche und japanische Teilnehmende am Lehrforschungsprojekt mit der Waseda-Universität zur Erinnerung an den Zweiten Weltkrieg in Japan und Deutschland im Lyrik Kabinett in der Amalienstraße 83a\, 80799 München die Ergebnisse der Forschungsreisen 2022 und 2023 in einer Poster-Ausstellung. \nFinanziert wurde das Projekt über das DAAD-Waseda Partnerschaftsprogramm. \nZur Ausstellung gibt es einen kleinen Empfang. Alle Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen.

DESCRIPTION:Toward Gender Parity in Japan – Political Barriers\, Women’s Activism and Cultural Shift \nJapan’s progress in closing its gender gap continues to lag despite government attempts in recent years to promote women’s empowerment in the economic activity. The Global Gender Gap Index by the World Economic Forum ranked Japan at 125th out of 146 countries in 2023\, its worst result since the inception of the Index in 2006. Women’s participation in politics remains remarkably low\, which\, in turn\, accounts for the lack of substantial legal advancements in fostering gender equality across various domains. To address this persistent issue\, the Gender Parity Law was enacted in 2018 and substantially revised in 2021. As an expert who was directly involved in the legislative process\, Prof. MIURA\, Ph.D.\, will talk about the impact and limitation of the law and address the way in which women’s recent activism is making a cultural shift in gender norms and practices. \n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \nProf. Mari MIURA\, Ph.D.\, is Professor of Political Science at the Faculty of Law at Sophia University. DESCRIPTION:All Quiet on the Eastern Front – Why is Japan’s Democratic Backsliding invisible to the West? \nConcerns over “democratic backsliding” – the destruction of democratic institutions and constitutional safeguards by populist “outsiders” – have been spreading in Europe\, Asia\, Latin America\, and the United States. In political science\, the phenomenon has spawned a growing literature on “competitive authoritarianism” and a popular discussion on the crisis\, even death\, of democracy. Oddly\, Japan – a country known for its perpetual conservative one-party rule of the Liberal Democratic Party (that is often said to be neither liberal nor democratic) – has been largely missing from the picture. If anything\, Japan has been receiving praises for standing up for the defense of the liberal democratic order in recent years. Why is this? Is there really no democratic backsliding in Japan today\, or is it just invisible to the West? \n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \nProf. Koichi NAKANO\, Ph.D.\, is Professor of Political Science\, and former Dean (2017-2021)\, at the Faculty of Liberal Arts\, Sophia University.
